Checkmate Membership Registration

We all know how difficult today’s housing market is and I’m sure we are all trying our best to make the necessary changes to our businesses to be ready for the upturn in the market that we all know will come.  With this in mind, Checkmate is offering a number of new to the market membership options and types to our customers:

  • Developer – Company/Person(s) who are the vendor of the finished development to the first purchaser or landlord if for rent and is employing a Checkmate registered Contractor or Builder Developer. 
  • Builder Developer – Company/Person(s) who are the vendor of the finished development to the first purchaser or landlord if for rent and manages the construction works and may act as builder, employ a contractor or work as a contractor to a Checkmate Developer.
  • Contractor – Company/Person(s) who is employed to carry out building works but is neither the vendor nor landlord
  • Housing Association/Registered Social Landlord - developer of shared ownership homes or homes for rent  in the social housing sector who employs a contractor to carry out building works on homes to rent and must employ a Checkmate Builder Developer as contractor for shared ownership homes
  • Associate – Company/Person(s) who may require access to Checkmate’s technical standards to provide advice to, or work for a Member; such as an architect or engineer etc. Schools or colleges etc may also wish to become Associate Members for access to the Checkmate technical standards.

And a unique variety of membership options available with advantages to different business models:

  • Annual – Traditional warranty membership that most would be used to purchasing from providers and is available to renew each year.  Advantageous to SPV’s/Partnership’s that are set up to develop one site and will then be closed once the properties are sold.
  • 5 Year – New option available to our customers, renewal done at the end of the 5 year term.  Advantageous to the short to medium term businesses.
  • 10 year – Again a new option available to our customers, renewal at the end of the 10 year term.  Advantageous to medium term businesses and those that will develop plots every few years.
  • Lifetime – This option is unlike anything else in the market, no warranty provider offers this to customers.  This enables long term businesses to cut the costs of membership as there is a one off fee (Currently at £4787+VAT) with the peace of mind knowing that no more renewal fees will be payable, just your premium and risk management fees as you register sites.
  • Associate – This is done on an annual basis only

We will ask questions about your trading and any previous warranty provider history, the experience of both the company/partnership/sole trader and it’s employees and conduct a credit review.  In addition to this we ask questions about Health and Safety, Training and Quality Assurance management policies as a company who regularly reviews these is one that will have good technical expertise and site management.  This reduces the risk to claims under the policy and therefore we can take a more favourable view of the premium and fees applicable.
